Souilhe is a small attractive village 7 kms from Castelnaudary. Its flanks are protected by the now fully restored 13th century Chateau de Souilhe (Chateau of the Great Sun). The village has around 300 inhabitants. It is gradually expanding. To the South there are stunning views to the Pyrenees - which periodically emerge from cloud which usually conceals them. When they do emerge you can on a clear day see what locals refer to as the magic mountain - Canigou which rise up over 10,000 feet.
Souilhe has a very good play area for children, a hairdresser and a boulangerie.
The people are very friendly and welcoming. The chateau is a great place to stay for families and large groups of friends.
